Black Coffee Slaps AKA’s Manager
This September, Black Coffee had our jaws drop after video footage of him slapping AKA’s road manager, Tshiamo Letshwene at the annual DStv iRock Limpopo Music Festival surfaced. Word is AKA arrived two hours late for his performance and his band started doing sound check during Coffee’s performance, which enraged him and that’s when things got heated. Black Coffee later apologised to his fans for his behaviour.

In our March 2016 issue, Boity graced our cover and spoke in detail about her break-up with the rapper. In the article, she says he never cheated but the real reason that led to the split was his hectic work schedule which didn’t allow them to spend time together. 90% Music on SABC Radio
SABC executive Hlaudi Motsoeneng announced in May that all 18 of the broadcaster’s radio stations will switch their music playlist to 90% local music. Local artists rejoiced while listeners still have mixed reactions. The COO also suggested the 90% local quota would move onto TV channels.
Tbo Touch Leaves Metro FM
In June, Touch, real name Thabo Molefe, announced his resignation from the station after 11 years with the broadcaster. The radio host who’s now joined forces with Gareth Cliff to start his online music channel called Touch Central revealed that he left Metro FM due to a matter of principle.

Sunday Times came out with a headline that read: “Yes, I gave Mara that ‘spiked’ drink.” In the article the paper reported that in his new book, Gareth admitted that he “poured” the drink that led to former Idols SA judge, Marah Louw acting erratic on the show and eventually getting fired. Cliff is said to be suing the paper for sensationalism. Gareth also announced his resignation from Idols SA this after 11 seasons on the show.

Rapper OKMalumKoolKat Arrested In Australia For Sexual Assault
Simiso Zwane was arrested for sexually assaulting another artist in Australia. OkMalumKoolKat played at a club called Mofo before allegedly heading to a hotel where the victim was sleeping, the Mercury reports. The rapper pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to six months in jail with five months suspended.
